Purrycat Sims

Technically this isn’t a chapter, just a preview of the new legacy house I built. Unfortunately my computer has had it up to here with large lots and custom content, so the game has now become unplayable. I should have a new marvellously cutting-edge computer in around March though so the great house I’ve built for the Legacy family will have to wait until then to be played with.

First, this is the old Legacy house. It worked great as a one-level little starter home, but they’re quickly growing out of it. It doesn’t lend itself well to just slapping another level on it, so renovation time it is!

 

This is my little family as it is right now. No, Katie and Timothy aren’t married (yet! They are both thinking about it a lot lately though and Timothy has rolled the want), but Katie and Alex are essentially very much part of the family. Anthony grew up into a particularly dorky young man so I can’t see his storyline changing much in the future.

 

I went hunting around on house plan sites to find something that might suit my little family and this is the one I chose, modified slightly to accommodate a 2 car garage facing the street (that is a garage on the right of this photo, but it’s facing the side). The house plan itself can be found here .

 

This is what I came up with. It was a little difficult to get screenshots thanks to cameraman mode getting a little jerky. Serves me right for including all that custom content and gazillion flowers *sigh*

 

See what I mean by the gazillion flowers? I love the effect though so there’s not a chance I’ll cut it down. I’ll just bide my time until I don’t have a wimpy computer *glares at PC*

Some top-down views. I couldn’t get them straight thanks to camera jerkiness so this is the best I could do, sorry. There’s a little hallway leading in from the entrance and I’m planning on putting up a family photo or two on the hallway walls. There’s another larger hallway on the other side of the kitchen which will hold most of the family photos.

The lounge room has one of the Maxis wall tvs and a game console which has already proved pretty popular. I like having a dining room and a breakfast nook, but I’m dreading the realities of trying to convince my sims to eat in the dining room on special occasions. I just know they’re going to want to only use the breakfast nook. Ahh well.

 

The bedroom on the bottom left will be Alex’s even though he’s about to head off to college. I want him to live with his little family for a while though, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to give him his own room. Timothy would want him to have his own room for whenever he came over anyway.

Margaret’s room is in the top left although half of it is cut off in this photo. I’ve got other photos of just that room though, so not to worry. Margaret and Alex’s shared bathroom is between their rooms.

To the right of the kitchen we’ve got Anthony’s room, a laundry (yes, I know it serves no earthly purpose but what the hey), a bathroom, and what’s supposed to be a storage closet but is actually just another wardrobe. It might come in useful for getting visitors to change clothes.

The garage is at the very bottom of the picture, and Timothy’s room is at the very top.

 

And here’s Timothy’s room and bathroom. Not to mention some very large closets! I’m using them to store hack objects like the casual romance adjuster. Spare aspiration rewards can live in there too.

I really want Timothy’s bathroom! I can imagine some incredibly relaxing bubble baths in that bath and the colours just felt so rich and decadent. The whole room reminds me of rich, dark chocolate. God, now I’m hungry!

Naturally the first thing they did was start a fire which nearly caused my computer to have a heart attack. Good one, guys.

 

The kitchen that I hate them for having. I want that kitchen, dammit!

 

Anthony doesn’t seem to stop eating. Maybe he has issues. You can see the breakfast nook behind him.

 

Speaking of Anthony, this is his bedroom. Was I unnecessarily cruel in assuming that he’d want the weird room? Poor kid doesn’t stand a chance anyway. With a face like that I really don’t think I could make him cool even if he wasn’t always doing dorky things.

 

And Margaret’s room. I felt bad for forcing her to share a room with her brother for so long so I tried to make it be everything she could possibly have wanted. She seems pretty happy with it. And of course it’s pink since she’s as addicted to the colour as Katie is.

 

And this is the master bedroom (note the card from Katie on the table!) with Timothy demonstrating how well the built-in wardrobes work. The door on the left leads into the bathroom.

 

And another view of the bedroom. To the left is a door that lead on to the back deck so they have their own private entrance to the backyard (and the hot tub!)

 

And this is an interior shot of the bathroom. To get these shots I had to drop the graphics setting a little, but it’ll look amazing on the new computer. There’s a separate toilet in the back left corner and to the right is the shower area…

 

…which Timothy is very graciously demonstrating. Why am I not surprised that he’s thinking about bars of gold while he’s in the shower? If he’s not thinking about money, he’s thinking about Katie.

 

The backyard really only has room for a swimming pool, spa (just to the right), and a little gym area. When I started the Legacy Challenge I didn’t opt for the giant 5×5 lot since I knew my computer would curl up and die. I can’t remember the exact size, but it’s a great deal smaller and yet still too much for my computer.

To finish up, I thought I’d just share a shot I caught of Katie rocking up for a visit with one thing on her mind. Unfortunately, nobody was home so she’ll have to wait to discuss marriage with Timothy. Just hold on a few months, Katie!
