Thought I’d written a post about this here, but apparently not. Huh. Anyway, my poor sims have been neglected lately, partly because of the whole moving in process, then trying to get ADSL, then discovering that the ADSL connection isn’t as good as advertised in our area, then trying to swap ISP’s etc etc. And then there’s the big reason: I’m getting married in less than a month!

Gory details are on Purrycat.com (I know, it’s annoying… thinking of combining all my blogs when things settle down), but suffice to say that we moved in and I was proposed to on the same day, and now we’re getting married on the 1st September. Yes, this year. Ack. Some extra time would have been great because I’m only just starting to get into it properly and get cool ideas, but it works out better for family who might otherwise be stuck overseas. And let’s face it: I’m not really that hung on the wedding itself; I just want to be married.

I’d have been playing my Legacy family to unwind, but unfortunately the timing really stinks. I did a bit of a cull of the custom content which apparently made the Legacy lot unplayable which meant designing a new house. Then there’s been the transition to having weather and trying to get my Lonely River sims to sync again in terms of what day they’re on, something I got a little lax in it seems. And now I’m up to planning Timothy and Katie’s inevitable wedding which really isn’t my idea of unwinding right now. Because sure, I’ll take a break from planning my own wedding to planning my sims wedding. Oh joy. I feel very relaxed now! lol

I’m so looking forward to life getting back to normal :)

Well, my time without internet starts pretty darn soon. The official “we have moved in to our new house” will start today and unfortunately our ISP hasn’t set up our connection yet. Phone connection Monday and the rest will be coming in a week or so apparently.

So… no ‘net. I swear I’m going to have withdrawal symptoms! ;)

Back in a few weeks with pictures of the house and lots of great news!

Okay first I just have to say this: “What the…?” Right. Now that I’ve gotten that out of my system.

I was just checking today’s news to see what’s gotten everybody up in arms today and my jaw dropped when I saw a tiny article in the entertainment section that claims that The Sims is going to be made into a full-length movie. No, not another machinima fan creation; a real movie with people, not sims. Just to be sure I wasn’t going completely mad I hunted around for some links and found what appears to be the source of the story: an article at Variety.

Fox brings ‘SIMS’ to bigscreen
Film will be a live-action version
By PETER GILSTRAP

20th Century Fox has acquired feature rights to the life simulation computer game “The SIMS” from Electronic Arts, and has set project up with Fox-based John Davis.

The five-year-old franchise is the best selling PC game in history, with worldwide sales topping 85 million, bringing in over $1.6 billion. Pic will be a live-action version.

Steve Asbell is overseeing the project for Fox with SIMS Studio head Rod Humble managing the creative property for Electronic Arts. Brian Lynch will script; story is under wraps with talent yet to be named.

“‘The SIMS has done an interactive version of an old story, which is what it’s like to have infinite power and how do you deal with it,” said Humble. “Given that that’s an old story, you can imagine how easily that would translate to traditional story telling.”

Davis’ most recent projects include “Norbit,” “When A Stranger Calls,” and “Eragon.”

Lynch scripted and helmed upcoming “Big Helium Dog,” and penned “Scary Movie 3,” and is managed by Benderspink.

I’m not sure if this is good news or bad news or simply just plain weird. From what I’ve heard “Ergaon” was actually pretty bad, although I have to admit that there probably wasn’t a great deal you can do with a story that is essentially a bunch of cliches and more resembles crossover fan fiction.

I’ll be keeping an eye on this though, that’s for sure. It’ll be interesting to see what they come up with and if they’re restricted to just the Sims 1 or will Sims 2 storylines be able to be used. Will the true story of Bella Goth’s abduction and mysterious appearance in Strangetown finally be revealed? Will our fragile little minds crack as it is revealed just how Nervous Subject was conceived? Gah… actually, I think they’d better stick to Sims 1!!
